Chichester-Miles Leopard

G-BKRL

Designed by Ian Chichester-Miles, a former Chief Research Engineer of BAe Hatfield, a mockup of this high performance 4 seat jet aircraft was completed in 1982, leading to G-BKRL being build as a prototype aircraft by the Designability company. G-BKRL first flew in 1988. However, development of the Leopard suffered a major setback when the engine manufacturer (Noel Penny Turbines) ceased business, this lead to the grounding of G-BKRL.

A second prototype was then constructed to use Williams International turbofans and to date only 2 of these aircraft having ever been built, the other which used to be at the Bournemouth Aviation Museum is now in the Midland Aviation Museum in Coventry.
